Wild Nothing (myspace)
Wild Nothing is the solo project of Virginia born Jack Tatum, who’s music is the product of an unhealthy obsession with nostalgia. Equal parts teenage wasteland and inexplicable regret, his songs are the kind that could only be made by the young at heart. Unlike the current herd of one-man bedroom bands, Tatum creates complex textural environments that aim for something higher. Melodies that yearn to stay with you. Warped interpretations of Johnny Marr’s guitar work and The Cure’s careful synth arrangements. Dreamy, catchy, and intriguing. Here’s to missing your youth.

Dignan Porch (myspace)
Dignan Porch is Joe and younger brother Sam Walsh, Philippa Bloomfield, a school friend and Ben Goodwin, a local barman. All four live in and around Tooting South London. All four were born in St Georges Hospital, Tooting. Tooting is fairly unfashionable and un-cool so the band lock themselves away and make tunes, then they get gigs in the cool parts of London and impress people. The band rehearse and record mainly at Joe and Sam’s parent’s house, upstairs in the front bedroom. They rehearse until about 9pm so as not to disturb the neighbourhood.  Dignan Porch don’t rehearse that much because they want to keep things SLACK. Joe and Sam formed the band to please their Dad who plays guitar in pubs for money. A friend called Steve might be joining the band soon to do backing vocals and play keyboard. Ben the Bass player has a fibre glass jaw and a metal hand from fighting people. Philippa the drummer is a great artist, she once played a drumkit made of porcelain with hammers for sticks and smashed it up in the name of art. Sam (guitar) drives really fast around London in his car, but the car stereo broke so he’s a bit sad now. Joe (vocals) writes the songs and takes the whole thing extremely seriously even though he pretends to be laid back. The music is dreamy psyche pop, it’s really, really awesome and will be really popular soon. Tooting has two nice pubs and about 200 curry houses. Dignan Porch will have a 7" before 2009 is over with an LP in 2010, when they will tour the US.

Hanoi Jane (myspace)
Hanoi Janes is mainly the work of one guy, living in Dresden, Germany. He spent the last six month constantly recording his vision of a Spector/Wilson sound, limited to on an 8-track recorder, one mic, and a stack of slightly degenerated  pop nuggets in mind. In doing so he likes to keep songs really short and rather grab another beer. It’s a one-man project trying to sound like a one-man parade, combining heavy hearted simplicity with sunny and naive bubblegum pop – imagine Southern California was located at the Caspian Sea. Hanoi Janes debut 7" "Across the Sea" appears later this month. The "Year of Panic" LP is due in February

Spectrals (myspace)
Spectrals is a young man named Louis from Leeds with a fondness for Phil Spector and Doo-Wop. All of this is siphoned through his unique approach to indie fuzz-pop. The results are ambitious, warm, nostalgic and dreamy. Our only information on the man so far is that he's "really nice" and has ginger hair. He decribes his sound as "You got drunk on cough syrup and passed out listening to your Gran's records." And we concur, depending on the age of you grandmother.

Beach Fossils (myspace)
The jangly, self recorded ramblings of Brooklyn’s Dustin Payseur,
Beach Fossils offers hauntingly catchy tunes that blend the energy of
an impulsive road trip with the melodious wandering of a lucid dream.
Sun drenched riffs, kaleidoscopic rhythms and hazy lyrics saturate
Beach Fossils' first release, the album's carefree vibe is perfectly
summed up through song titles such as "Daydream," "Vacation," and
"Lazy Day." Two simultaneous 7"s will be released on Captured Tracks
and Woodsist in time for their package tour with Christmas Island and The
Beets in February. The S/T LP will be out in March, as a co-release between
Captured Tracks and Woodsist.

While we've done a lot of singles and EP's in 2009, we're focusing on full-lengths for the future. We have a lot of debut LP's by new artists that we're pretty excited about.

Tim Cohen (myspace)
As the frontman for the already prolific Fresh & Onlys, it seems impossible that there's yet even more songs coming from the well of Mr. Cohen. More surprising is that they maintain a high standard of quality. "The Two Sides of Time Cohen" LP came and went in the blink of an eye. Recorded after his stint in Black Fiction and before his current set-up in the Fresh & Onlys, "Two Sides.." was a fresh dose of pure outsider pop with drum machines and keyboards. For a follow up, "Laugh Tracks" finds Tim in a more fleshed out full-bodied approach, complete with horn arrangements. These are personal songs from a highly gifted songwriter and we're happy to make them available.


Cosmetics (myspace)
Cosmetics are a two piece from Vancouver, BC. Their music is made for dancing, and with feeling and attention to the details. Their trip is sleek and synthetic meets human emotion. Cosmic glamour meets do-it-yourself. Voice and a rhythm. Frosty tropics and hazy nites. Love on the beat. Nic M and Aja Emma formed Cosmetics in Summer 2008, the first band for both of them. In 2009 they put together the Tuff Trax 8-track studio in their home where they work on sound and visuals every day. Cosmetics is their lifestyle. Look for a 7" soon, followed by a 12" single and an LP/CD.


WETDOG (myspace)
WETDOG will not be seen in some bar in Dalston pretending to like Italo Disco. Sarah will be at home, crying and listening to Morrissey. Rivka farms a tortoise and chickens in the Kent countryside. Billy lives in Arsenal and likes lego. Together, they form a triad of female energy vibes not seen since Wilson Phillips. The band have an affinity with Welsh genius, counting Datblygu and Euros Childs amongst their influences (there are hints of pastoral climes in the melodies), but The Wicker Man, Jeremy Kyle, Syd Barrett and Robert Crumb are just as likely to feature in any album-related discussions. Rivka Gillieron (guitar, vox), Sarah Datblygu (drums, vox) and Billy Easter (bass, vox) agree on one thing – hard and sparse music contrasting with vocal harmonies.  Astringent, atonal guitars, off-key harmonies, squealed screechy vocals, a style of playing that could at best be described as 'optimistic'... really, it needs no qualification. Anti-rock. Anti-stadium. Anti-commercial. Anti-glamour. -Angular
