As the second contribution to Captured Tracks’ Shoegaze Archives series, deardarkhead offer their brilliant take on the genre with Oceanside: 1991-1993. The New Jersey-based band was formed in 1988 with their name taken from an anonymously written Irish poem of the 18th century “Cean Dubh Dilis,” about a beautiful girl with black hair. Their sound perfectly blends post-punk guitar experimentalism with a heavy atmospheric dreampop aura, similar to Pale Saints and Ride. This release is completely remastered, some tracks previously unreleased as well as all track never before on vinyl.

    SHOULD-A Folding Sieve LP
    Should’s shoegaze classic A Folding Sieve was originally released in 1995 under the name shiFt by the Austin-based record label N D. Words on Music re-released the album in 2002 with double the number of tracks as the original album. These new songs included covers of the Jean Paul Sartre Experience song “Own Two Feet” and the 18th Dye song “Merger” as well as unreleased songs recorded between 1995 and 1996. The Captured Tracks LP release of A Folding Sieve will include the original release’s tracks as well as “Faded” and “Own Two Feet”. Download card included.

    deardarkhead takes its name from an anonymously written Irish poem of the 18th century "Cean Dubh Dilis", about a beautiful girl with black hair. They formed in 1988 on the banks of New Jersey. Over the years DDH has played with the likes of The Lilys, The Psychedelic Furs and Supergrass. This release, Oceanside: 1991-1993, will have something new for loyal fans as well as new ears. Their sound is a blend of post-punk guitar experimentalism as well as a heavy atmospheric dreampop aura. This release is completely remastered, some tracks previously unreleased as well as tracks never before on vinyl.

    MEDICINE-Time Baby II 7"
    "Time Baby 2" is simultaneously one of the most widely heard Medicine songs (It's the tune they're "playing" in their appearance in the 1994 film, "The Crow") and also one of the most difficult to find a copy of. Originally released in the U.K. only as one of three non-LP B sides on the 1993 Creation Records "5ive" E.P., it has never been released anywhere else until now. It's also worth mentioning that the original Creation release suffered from poor, out of phase mastering, so this song's appearance here (as well as its inclusion along with all of the other non-LP B-Sides on the upcoming expanded re-issues of the first two Medicine albums) marks the first time this noisy pop gem can be heard as the band truly intended.
    "Miss Drugstore (alternate mix)" is previously unreleased (save for a short snippet on the 1994 "Sounds of Medicine" E.P.) and will be exclusive to this release. This somewhat stripped down experimental self-remix is a rare chance to discover what those who listen closely will have already realized long ago: Medicine was a kick-ass rock band with an amazingly powerful rhythm section.
