DIIV Share the Magnetically Melancholic “Taker”

Today, DIIV reveals new song “Taker” off their forthcoming third full-length album Deceiver, out October 4th. A plowing groove and scraping guitar punctuate a lulling rumination on the act of deception on the magnetically melancholic track, which follows the recently released lead single “Skin Game.” “Skin Game”‘s darkly propulsive sound was praised as “the #1 Best Rock Song Right Now” by The FADER, “rumbling” by Rolling Stone, “excellent” by Paste, and a “rebirth” by Pitchfork.

Rebirth takes place when everything falls apart. On Deceiver, DIIV crafts the soundtrack to personal resurrection under the heavy weight of metallic catharsis, upheld by robust guitars and vocal tension that almost snaps, but never quite… The new album from Zachary Cole Smith [lead vocals, guitar], Andrew Bailey [guitar], Colin Caulfield [vocals, bass], and Ben Newman [drums] was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Sonny Diperri (Protomartyr, Trent Reznor), marking the first time the band has worked with an outside producer. It is preceded by 2012’s Oshin and 2016’s critical and fan favorite Is the Is Are. NME ranked it in the Top 10 among the “Albums of the Year’ and Pitchfork’s audience voted Is the Is Are one of the “Top 50 Albums of 2016” as the outlet dubbed it, “gorgeous.”

The band will embark on a North American tour in October and December including Desert Daze Festival and a performance at Warsaw in Brooklyn, NY. More dates to be announced. Tickets on-sale here: http://diiv.net
