Euro Delights & Savagery by Dinner

To mark the release of Dinner’s Three EPs, 2012-2014, he’s made us a “savage” mix of his European synth-pop favorites and other curiosities. Thoughtfully annotated by the odd-pop Dane himself. Check out the playlist below, and grip the LP here!

EURO DELIGHTS AND SAVAGERY

A Mix by Anders Rhedin

Savage – Don’t Cry

I feel Savage is my soul brother. Big brother, maybe. Hot track, great song, epic production. I don’t know what else to say. I wonder where he is today?

Masqerade – Guardian Angel

“Where is that great German pop band?”, some people (who obviously disregard Scorpions) ask me. Well, one of them is right here.

Nobody – Inner Car Crash

My personal favorite band from Copenhagen right now. Frontman Kim LAS + Dinner collaborators and co-writers Jannis Makrigiannis and Rasmus Valldorf rock out in this scarcely clad performance.

Julian Cope / Teardrop Explodes – Great Dominions

One of my all time favorite Cope songs. This is the studio version, search for a recent live version with Cope in his beautiful biker-esque outfit doing a moving,  stripped down version of this beautiful song. This is one of those songs I always try to rip off – so far with little luck.

Girlseeker

Another great contemporary Danish band. I think some of these guys played in Iceage? Or maybe not. They’re a part of that whole scene, and they’re really good. Also, they look like 1992 never ended but just continued on happening, and that’s always nice.

Scotch – Disco Band

Epic video: Russian mystic Rasputin goes bananas amidst a choreography of limbs in bleak 80s hospital room to the sound of cheerful synth-pop.

Argot – Girls Idolizing Boys

Another Blodrøde Floder artist – more dancy. And so poetic.

Græske – Meg Ryan

The best music video I’ve seen this year. Wonderful song. Once again a Danish band. This is an unofficial release, but it’s a pretty big name and this is from their upcoming record…

Sean Nicholas Savage – She Looks Like You

Sean Savage is a genius. AND he’s singing a bit on the new Dinner record. Which of course makes me sound like shit in comparison. I forgive him though.

Pre Be Un

Dinner collaborator / producer / co-writer Nicolai Koch’s solo project. Maybe one can trace a little of Dinner’s DNA here? I don’t know…

Enya – Sail Away

This could be one of the best shoegazer-songs-disguised-as-pop ever written. Enya is a genius in my book.
