GIRLPUPPY RELEASES NEW ALBUM ‘SWEETNESS’

The album reflects a striking duality: its title, drawn from a personal nickname, embodies a gentle warmth, while the songs themselves delve into the bittersweet and complex realities of heartbreak. Collaborating with producer Alex Farrar and co-writers Tom Sinclair and Holden Fincher, Harvey fuses shoegaze, dream-pop, and early 2000s pop-rock, featuring contributions from members of Horse Jumper of Love, The War on Drugs, and Beach Fossils.

“I’m so happy to release Sweetness into the world today. This record was made with so much love and I hope that shines through. Thank you for listening and making me feel held. Love you”
– Becca Harvey (girlpuppy)

“On Sweetness, Harvey’s sound takes a grungier turn, with heavier guitars and more feedback-laden compositions supporting her tender vocals.”
– Rolling Stone (Future 25)
“{On “Windows} Becca Harvey, leading girlpuppy, sings about an unresolved breakup… She explains, ‘We did everything together, me and you / So that’s why everything reminds me of you.’ The track starts out seemingly placid, with quiet guitar picking and tapping drums, but instruments keep arriving and chiming in.“
– The New York Times (The Playlist)
“Becca Harvey’s vocal delivery is sugary, lacing the grizzled guitars with a little sweetness as she flames out. Trying to convince someone you’re worthy is never a nice feeling, and ‘Champ’ nails that unique mixture of neediness, hurt, and missed opportunity.“
—The FADER (Songs You Need In Your Life This Week)
“A striking artistic statement […] Each track abounds with infectious melodies and hooks delivered with a warm grace from Harvey’s engaging and understated performance.”
– Northern Transmissions
“A testament to strength, acceptance, and picking up the pieces […] Honest and raw.”
– The Line of Best Fit
