Molly Burch Drops Animated Video for “To The Boys”

Molly Burch is excited to share the incredibly charming animated video for her single, “To The Boys,” from her forthcoming LP, First Flower, out on October 5. The clip was directed by Emily Ann Hoffman who notes,

“I loved how playful and strong the song’s message was and wanted the video to have the same feeling. I liked the idea of a paper doll seeming delicate and feminine, yet standing up to a pack of mean pigs and leading a horde of animals with confidence.” She continues, “Molly and I had a lot of fun looking at old videos of Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton for outfit and hair inspiration for her paper doll.”

Burch is both gentle and commanding on “To The Boys,” her enchantingly deep and smoky vocals wrapped around shimmering guitar riffs. She says, “I’ve been called soft-spoken a lot in my life and I feel like I’ve carried that around with me. It seems like a lot of us have internalized this image of what a ‘powerful’ person looks and sounds like, what a leader looks and sounds like. Hopefully that’s changing. This song is about finding your power and holding it with confidence, and not apologizing for being yourself.”

Molly previously shared the wistful “Wild,” a song about the desire for self-acceptance. Watch the 60s inspired video that sees Molly play three versions of herself – the insecure, over confident and the wise – here.

First Flower is the follow up to Burch’s acclaimed debut Please Be Mine. It’s a walk-through Molly’s most intimate thoughts, exploring broken friendships, her relationship to her sister and how she learned to fight overwhelming anxiety. Throughout the album her voice is as strong and dexterous as ever, displaying her incredible range and professionalism as a vocalist.

Burch has announced a headlining US tour this Fall which will run through to December in support of the new album. Check below for list of dates and for further details on how to order a copy of the new album, go here.
